Role Summary: Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. This will be a 2nd shift opportunity working Monday-Friday 4:00pm-1:00am. Overtime may be required. Responsibilities : • Operating CNC Mazak and CNC Haas Machines or Equipment – Operate basic equipment and machines and carry out routine tasks. • Program Mazak • Lathes MAZATROL • Program Haz mills Funac G Code control • Create your own programs and setting up your machines. • Operations Management – Carry out operational tasks by following established processes. • Equipment Maintenance and Repair - Help to maintain and repair equipment by carrying out preparations and providing assistance. • Health, Safety and Environment – Follow basic mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others. • Operational Compliance – Follow a straightforward mandatory procedure to ensure that work is carried out to the required quality standards and/or to ensure adherence to external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct. • Such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges. Equipment/instruments Precision Equipment Utilization – Interpret and use precision measuring. • Instructions and Drawings – Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances. • Internal Communications – Exchange information with people by having courteous interactions with them. • Policy and procedures - Works with guidance to understand policies and procedures, while making sure they match organizational strategies and objectives. • Other duties as assigned. Knowledge And Skills • Must be able to use basic hand tools, lift, bend, and stoop and carry repeatedly heavy loads. • Must have the ability to read, speak, understand and communicate clearly in English. • Must be able to climb and work from ladders. • Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet. • Must be able to work in confined spaces and underground. • Must be able to work outside as assigned in all types of weather conditions year round, including severe weather. • Must have the ability to work from verbal and written instructions. • Must have the ability to work well both with others or alone as required. • Must be familiar with reverse osmosis filtration. • Familiarity with NFPA 25 preferred. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow safety guidelines as listed in the Maintenance Services Department safety manual. • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the foreman. • Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding equipment and facilities. • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure equipment is in safe operating condition. • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Qualifications • 3-5 years of experience installing tile and/or slate roofing systems. • Skilled in working with Vermont slate, Ludowici clay tile, or comparable materials. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specs, and roof layouts. • Knowledge of traditional installation techniques and historic roof systems. • Comfortable working on steep slopes, at heights, and in outdoor conditions. • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. • Physical ability to lift 50-75 lbs and work in a labor-intensive environment. • Willingness to travel for multi-week projects. Preferred (Not Required) • Experience with copper flashing, lead work, or sheet metal details. • Knowledge of mortar bed installations or historic roof preservation practices. • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
