Who We Are We are looking for dedicated technicians who are enthusiastic about preserving our planet through clean, renewable wind energy. As a Vestas technician, you’ll put your electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical experience to work, ensuring your safety, and the safety of your team. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TECHNICIAN In this intermediate- level position, you’ll use your skills and training to perform maintenance and/ or installation work on assigned wind turbines under minimal supervision. You will be provided with defined schedules and procedures including safety protocol, verbal/ written instructions, but you may provide mentorship to entry-level technicians. During a typical day, you may be working 250 feet above the ground, or working in small spaces to perform maintenance and repairs. You’ll be outside, and sometimes the weather isn’t great. You’ll be climbing, carrying tools and equipment and moving parts to complete your work. Teamwork is a priority here, and our reputation for professionalism, safety and attention to detail are important to our customers. We also encourage recommendations to improve the safety and quality of our work. More About You • You have a High School Diploma or equivalent • You have at least 1 year of technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months of technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a wind technician program, OR a minimum of three (3) years’ electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, composite skills, or heavy machinery experience. • You have the ability to climb stairs and ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs. in weight • You have experience with the use and understanding of intermediate level power tools such as hydraulic, power torque and diagnostic tools.. see moreGeneral Purpose The Vestas Blade Recycling Department is looking for experienced teammates to perform recycling of blades. Consider joining our Recycling Blade Team to travel to our sites across North America and Canada, and grow and train with the best in the wind industry. This position is remote requiring 100% travel and an hourly paid position. We offer travel Technicians, overtime and other supplemental earnings. Responsibilities • Ability to travel 100% of the time and requires working overtime, including working a variable work schedule as needed to meet business needs. • Performs recycling of the blades on the ground and tasks as assigned. This includes proficient operation and use of heavy equipment, machinery, power tools, and heavy equipment shredders. • Acts as a safety role model, encourages and recognizes others completing safe acts and intervenes when unsafe acts are being practiced. Adheres to all safety standards and procedures. Identifies gaps in safety standards as well as safety risks in the environment, implements effective risk mitigation and provides recommendations to higher level technical staff and management • Effectively promotes a healthy team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing goals as well as mentoring lower-level technical staff. Visibly supports and promotes team spirit and collaboration, supports change initiatives, and looks for improvement opportunities to job-appropriate processes and procedures while communicating through appropriate channels to implements improvements using the appropriate control management protocol Essential Functions • Willingness to embrace and promote Vestas’ commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. • Ability to read, comprehend and write in English. • Ability to lift, push/pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time. • Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and large blades. Education, Training, And Skills Required • Required - High school diploma or equivalent • Ability to demonstrate intermediate working knowledge of industrial safety practices / protocols • At least 1-2 years’ experience operating power tools and heavy equipment machinery such as skid steers, telehandlers, and large loaders. • Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a passport • Significant attention to detail and execution, good interpersonal and customer relation skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision and support initiatives • Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet-based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data.
