Position Overview The heavy equipment mechanic is responsible for lubricating and servicing the company's mobile equipment from haul trucks and assorted paving and construction equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc. • Responsible for own personal safety at all times; as well as maintain the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. • Lubricate all lube points on equipment. • Communicate with shop foreman or site foreman for scheduling and status of repairs. • Communicate with vendors and purchasing agent for parts ordering. • Identify the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. • Examine vehicle and Identify any possible maintenance issue • Replaces parts such as lights, brakes, bearings, springs, etc. • Services items such as gearboxes, hydraulic systems, engine oils • Performs basic shop clean up (floors, windows, walls, etc) • Empties oil containers and trash containers • Control costs on all repairs. • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned. • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public at all times. • Other duties as assigned Requirements • Current Drivers License and reliable source of transportation. • Must submit to a drug screen, criminal background check. Education/Experience • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • 2-5 Years of previous experience preferred. • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines. • Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems is helpful. • Basic computer skills are needed. • Experience with diagnostic tools. • Able to work various shifts to meet customer demand. Summary Plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications to meet MSHA, NEC and local electrical codes. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, PLC and circuit-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as motors, motor controls, HVAC equipment and installs grounding conductors. Tests continuity of a circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as multi meter, ohmmeter, amp meter, and insulation tester. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Uses blueprints and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot and maintain installed control and instrument circuits. Fabricates structural members for support of conduit, junction boxes and related components. Education/Experience • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Two to five years of related experience preferred.
