The CNC Fabrication Machinist supports the day-to-day operations in Hilti’s Engineering Service Center (ESC) with the manufacturing and assembly of standard and custom customer orders. Duties include set up and operating horizontal bandsaw and industrial equipment to cut threaded rod, strut, and other materials to customer and internal quality specifications. The machine operator performs required quality and maintenance checks, and minor/routine equipment maintenance and repairs as needed. Assists with assembly and prefabrication of product for customer orders. The Machinist has a working understanding of all internal production processes and trains new team members as needed. What does the role involve? • Follow standard processes to build and produce standard and custom products to defined specifications in production paperwork and project documentation. • Perform product modifications and product packaging to PBL (Project Business Logistics) specifications. • Execute defined quality and maintenance checks and participate in equipment maintenance as needed. • Train new team members on safe and proper equipment operation and maintenance processes. • Use SAP to execute inventory transactions and process production orders. • Material handling tasks associated with working in a production-type environment. • Package and stage completed product for shipment. • Support team lead and supervisor in planning of work and production on their shift. • Maintain active equipment spare parts inventory. • Keep work area, tools, and equipment organized and in working order. • Actively engage and contribute to department continuous improvement activities. • Operate laser cutting Tubelaser 3000. • Assist in debugging operating or programming problems with high laser cut quality parts. • Work and be familiar with measuring tools (Calipers, tape measures, protractors, etc.) • Assist in CNC’s areas operational activities and special projects to ensure quality and meet timetables. • Maintain CNC machine, area and other tools in good condition by performing 5s and TPM activities on a regular basis. • Main trainer of CNC machine for new team members. • Additional duties as assigned. Summary Of Duties Responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, in accordance with FRA and Amtrak Tier II standards and guidelines for High Speed Trainsets. Essential Functions • Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations and Amtrak Tier II standards on High Speed Trainset equipment • Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures • Installs, maintains, and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and systems • Repairs tilting system, brake, water heating and sanitation systems • Installs, maintains and repairs heating and cooling equipment and related piping • Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Completion of technical school or apprenticeship program preferred • Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanic equipment and systems • Experience testing equipment and repairs to water and sanitation systems • Experience in the maintenance of railroad equipment preferred • Must successfully complete training and attain/retain certification applicable to assigned job Preferred Qualifications& Work Environment • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems • Ability to read mechanical drawings • Knowledge and skill in the use of electrical tools, equipment and the measurements necessary to meet established standards • Ability to train others in attaining higher skill levels in inspections and repairs • Demonstrated computer skills • Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently Communications And Interpersonal Skills Excellent written and oral communication skills. The hourly rate is $35.38 - $41.63 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment). The Sheet Metal Mechanic performs internal and external sheet metal repairs, modifications, and installations to all aircraft serviced at the facility. Researches and develops repair schemes using blueprints, engineering orders, service bulletins, and other technical publications. Fabricates various sheet metal parts in their entirety by interpreting blueprints, calculating angles, diameters, and bend allowances, and then cutting, shaping and forming the part. What To Expect In This Role: • Perform structural aircraft repairs using appropriate sheet metal techniques and fasteners. • Remove, replace, and relocate headers, stringers, doors, beams, and bulkheads while building up surfaces and structures to specifications. • Install Service Bulletin kits using parts and instructions provided by OEM. • Plan and develop schemes for sheet metal repairs and modifications by utilizing blueprints, sketches, service bulletins, OEM specifications, engineering orders, and other technical publications. • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and protractors, to accomplish repairs or modifications. • Inspect aircraft in accordance with OEM Light or Heavy Maintenance manuals and evaluate removed components for serviceability, documenting discrepancies. • Document all work accomplished in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. • Accomplish Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required. • Analyze various mechanical problems to determine causes and the best methods of repair. Basic Qualifications: • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. • A minimum of 3 years sheet metal fabrication experience required. • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand for 8 hours per day. • Ability to bend, stretch, crawl, and climb ladders to access difficult areas within the aircraft. • Capable of working outside in extreme temperatures and inclement weather. Preferred Characteristics: • A valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License • Corporate aviation experience strongly desired.
