This position works in and around NGLs executing Operations & Logistics for Marathon Pipe Line. The successful candidate will perform such duties as: repairing and maintaining API 6D valves, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, tank equipment and meters. The successful candidate should have the ability to trouble shoot problems and work independently while working in a team environment. All duties will be completed in accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will perform such duties as: installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, and system development for all systems including motor controls, distributive controls, PLC’s, communications systems such as satellite, cellular, RF systems, SCADA operations maintenance and any other technical issues that may arise. Position Summary MPC’s El Paso Refinery, is currently accepting applications for an experienced Journeyman Maintenance Machinist. A Machinist will support the operation of the refinery by properly maintaining and repairing refinery mechanical systems. This allows for safe, compliant, and reliable refinery operation to support the refinery’s strategic business goals. The schedule for this position will be a 4-10 schedule Monday-Thursday, with weekend shifts and OT when necessary. Key Responsibilities • Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance (vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.) and condition-based monitoring. • Ensure required documentation of repairs, modifications, and training are completed in a timely and meticulous manner. • Repair, rebuild, or upgrade mechanical equipment per MPC specifications, standards, and drawings. • Shop and field troubleshoot & repair to refinery machinery including but not limited to pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes, etc. • Perform maintenance per established written procedures. • Use drawings, equipment manuals, procedures, and proper tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment. • Document work performed in test forms and condition reports. • Use hand and precision measurement tools common to the trade. • Operate equipment such as overhead jobs and cranes, forklifts, and shop machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and other machinery to fabricate precision parts. • Must properly use and handle safety materials and equipment such as personal protective equipment, respirators, and air-supplied breathing apparatus. • All Maintenance Craft positions perform in various environmental conditions in the refinery including, but not limited to indoors, such as shops, warehouses, and other indoor locations; outdoors, such as open areas, covered areas, process units, and other outdoor locations; heights, such as columns, tanks, pipe racks, and other areas; underground, such as vaults, pits, and inside of process equipment and other confined spaces. • The position may be exposed to other environmental requirements as well, such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and other naturally occurring elements. • Maintenance Craft work in a safety-sensitive work environment that requires compliance with a continuous random drug and alcohol testing program. Physical Requirements • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field. • Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, lift and carry up to 50 pounds as well as bend, stoop, twist, reach, stretch, push, pull, drag, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, and use hands and feet. • The hours of the position are 4-day/10-hour per day schedule and must be available for weekend shifts and overtime.
