Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Performing layout work to support machining, assembly and installation of components into modules that will eventually become working parts of a nuclear submarine • Taking measurements with basic measuring tools and precision measuring equipment such as inside, outside and depth micrometers, dial calipers, vernier calipers and indicators • Utilization of standard hand tools such as, combination wrenches, torque wrenches, screw drivers, pliers etc... • Utilization of various portable and fixed machinery such as bench grinders, hand held grinders, drill presses, hand held drills, magnetic base drills, hydraulic drills, portable boring equipment, milling machines and lathes • Work is performed utilizing technical work documents, blueprints, specification manuals and written or oral instruction • Installation and or machining tasks generally take place within a module or on hull. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to • Perform electrical testing of all Shipboard, Steam and Electric Plant, Auxiliary and Weapons systems. • Complete Test Director review of Test Form data daily and logging calibrated test equipment • Exhibit high moral character and integrity required to certify NAVSEA test requirements. • Exhibit the ability to read and understand various system and test diagrams/drawings required for all electrical system testing. • Work onboard submarines under construction during all phases of construction in all types of weather. • Work requires heavy lifting, pulling and climbing (ladders) and enter in tight/confined spaces for extended periods of time. • Perform various electrical testing tasks using various meters to perform continuity checks of installed cables and equipment. Perform alignments of ship systems electronic systems. Assist in trouble shooting when required. • Individual must understand and comply with Division Safety Manual and technical manual operating instructions • Be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. This position will provide you with the training to operate and program the robotic welding machines to accurately cut/bevel and weld the missile tubes. The tubes are grouped in a “quad Pack” to assemble the Common Missile Compartment CMC Section. Once the section is assembled, this quad pack is completed with a hull section, joined with additional quad packs, and then outfitted as a complete missile compartment with decks, systems and other equipment. Four CMC’s will join together to create the 16-tube capacity and this is all brought together by our robotic welding machines. Individuals with mechanized welding, UT/RT, CAD/CAM, CNC are encouraged to apply but it is not a requirement and training will be provided. Training will be provided for up to 6 months on 1 st shift and then permanent shift placement will be provided. The 6-month training includes hand, mechanized, mirror and robot welding.
