Robotic Welders are competent welders whose mission is assembling the massive tubes that will hold Columbia’s intercontinental ballistic missiles . This position will provide you with the training to operate and program the robotic welding machines to accurately cut/bevel and weld the missile tubes. The tubes are grouped in a “quad Pack” to assemble the Common Missile Compartment CMC Section. Once the section is assembled, this quad pack is completed with a hull section, joined with additional quad packs, and then outfitted as a complete missile compartment with decks, systems and other equipment. Four CMC’s will join together to create the 16-tube capacity and this is all brought together by our robotic welding machines. Individuals with mechanized welding, UT/RT, CAD/CAM, CNC are encouraged to apply but it is not a requirement and training will be provided. Training will be provided for up to 6 months on 1 st shift and then permanent shift placement will be provided. The 6-month training includes hand, mechanized, mirror and robot welding.
