see moreNORTH TEXAS TOLLWAY AUTHORITY Summary The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Electrical Lead in the day-to-day operations of the Electrical department. This is achieved by dispatching work assignments to the crew as scheduled by the Electrical Supervisor and Electrical Lead, preparing materials list and tools as needed to support electrical personnel. The secondary purpose of this position is the ability, skills, and knowledge to work in the field with the electrical crews to maintain and repair all electrical systems owned by the NTTA. These purposes are accomplished by knowledge and use of the NTTA’s Computer Maintenance Management System, PM inspection, Customer Service Request, planned work, special projects and emergency repairs. Other duties include referencing drawings for the location of various components compiling electrical systems, locating, and marking utilities for contractors, as well as, responding to emergencies, responding to weather-related emergencies, and completing special projects as assigned. Will be required to work scheduled shift during Snow and Ice events performing various tasks as trained. Starting at $22.64/hr • $2,000 Retention Bonus*** This is a designated essential employee position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook which required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situations. The position is also required to be on call a week at a time from Sunday to Sunday on a rotating schedule. This is a Safety-Sensitive Position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. Responsibilities • Compiles materials list of supplies and equipment, picking up supplies, and maintaining inventory. • Maintains and completes routine and emergency repairs by inspecting and troubleshooting electrical systems. • Locates underground electrical circuits, locating damaged electrical conductors, and making repairs as required. • Trouble-shoots motor control circuits and associated equipment. Reads and evaluates blueprints, interpreting the National Electrical Code in relation to NTTA projects and contractor projects and ordering equipment and supplies. • Locates utilities by reviewing blueprints and drawings and marking locations. • Repairs buildings and toll facilities by re-lamping signal, canopy, and bunker lights, changing ballasts, replacing switches and receptacles, and replacing old or damaged wire. • Repairs roadway lighting by turning panels on and off, re-lamping fixtures, changing ballasts and replacing blown fuses. • Re-erects damaged light poles by removing damaged poles, obtaining supplies, completing repairs, and re-erecting poles. • Quality checks electrical crew work. • Participates in Snow and Ice Events by preparing and operating vehicles and equipment during inclement weather conditions. • Sets and monitors goals and objectives and maintains costs. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications M inimum: • High School Diploma or GED. • State of Texas Journeyman Electricians’ license. • At least five years of experience in electrical construction. • A valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s license. • Texas Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months of hire. • Ability to work with various electrical voltages and equipment. Preferred • Experience with high voltage electricity. • Public works experience. • Roadway electrical system experience. see moreJob Description Summary: This position installs, trouble-shoots, and repairs all NTTA HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This is accomplished by having the experience and technical background required to perform these tasks with minimal outside assistance. Professional level interpersonal communication skills are required for this position along with the ability to explain HVAC and refrigeration equipment failures and operations to non-skilled personnel. This is accomplished by having the knowledge, experience and technical background required to perform these tasks with minimal outside assistance or direction. Employee must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changes, have good interpersonal skills and be able to perform duties with minimum supervision. Employee is subject to perform weekend and holiday maintenance on-call duty when scheduled and after hour emergency recall when required. Duties, hours and location of work areas are subject to change as determined by the department to meet the needs of the facility. Other duties include performing inspections and preventative maintenance, maintaining records, meeting with contractors, assisting mechanical technicians with other facility related task and helping during severe weather events. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions, must be able to document work activity including labor and supplies using CMMS computer program, must be able to document work time using CMMS computer program. Responsibilities: • Maintains and repairs a variety of HVAC & R equipment contained within numerous NTTA buildings and facilities. Systems include: Chillers, geo-thermal, air handlers, rooftop units, split systems, package units, heat pumps, window units, forced air systems, boilers and gas furnaces. (Not an all inclusive list) Requires response to emergency call-outs. Monitoring work activities using computer technology and using the Maintenance CMMS system to schedule, record and complete activities. • Reads and understands control diagrams and schematics used in trouble shooting HVACR equipment. • Maintains many small package units serving equipment enclosures. • Performs heating and air conditioning maintenance by completing preventive maintenance, such as washing coils and replacing filters. • Completes requests for service by using hand and power tools, assembling and disassembling objects and equipment, utilizes meters and test equipment to determine the nature and location of problems, then makes repairs as quickly and as efficiently as possible. • Installs, trouble shoot, repair, run piping and braze. Perform routine maintenance and using knowledge of refrigerants and ability to repair ice machines, water fountains and refrigerators. • Performs installations of HVAC & R systems on small internal NTTA projects. (Includes sizing and installing units and specifying and installing ducting.) • Reviews construction drawings for new projects to insure correctness of design. • Preserves the appearance and safety of buildings. Interacts with customers, and repairs equipment owned by the agency. Reports issues involving the operation of vehicles and equipment, inspects and reports equipment defects by reading instruments and gauges, maintains supply inventories, identifies and reports trends, ensures all information is complete and accurate. • Works closely with other departments and team members, prioritizing and scheduling work. Assists with training. Reviews policies and procedures. Completes tasks and work orders in detail. • Supports snow & ice response by operating assigned vehicles and equipment. • Required to respond to emails and phone calls received outside of normal business hours as necessary. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum: • High School Diploma or GED • Possess a current TDLR Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (ACR) Contractor or Technician License • Over five years’ experience installing and maintaining HVAC/R systems. • A valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s license • Ability to get Texas Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months of hire.
