We are seeking an experienced Welder & Fitter for our company, Greens Bayou Pipe Mill, in east Houston. The Welder/Fitter repairs and builds piping systems using specialized welding equipment. Responsibilities • Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as SAW, MIG, FCAW, and SMAW • Determines the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Sets up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements) • Welds components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead) • Repairs pipe and other products by welding pieces and filling gaps • Repairs the flaws in pipe found by quality control after production in the Pipe Repair Station • Maintains equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety • Cleans inside the pipe before welding, cuts the area of the weld by using a carbon arc and prepares the proper equipment for welding • Maintains work area and keeps equipment clean and orderly • Other duties as assigned Qualifications • Previous experience as a welder preferably pipeline welding • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures • Current knowledge of the ANSI, API, AWS, AND ASME standards • Ability to interpret schematics • Awareness and experience in all welding gear Physical Requirements • Able to stand or crouch for a long period of time. • Able to lift up-to 50 pounds. • Able to work in outdoor climates.

JOB TITLE: Sub-Arc Welder General Description As a Sub-Arc Welder, you will operate a submerged arc welding machine to make long-seam and girth-seam welds on large diameter structural pipe and pressure vessel shells. You will use equipment and tools such as grinders, arc gougers, air chisels, and sub-arc welding machines. You must have extreme attention to detail, as the work is often delicate, and the welding tools used are dangerously hot. You must strictly follow safety precautions. Sub-arc welding requires that you follow exact weld procedures and processes. Required Duties • Operate semi-automatic welding equipment to weld long-seams and girth-seams on structural pipe and pressure vessel shells • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., ensure bevel prep cleanliness, verify temperature, verify consumables and parameters) • Weld components using semi-automatic welding • Utilize arc-gouging to remove weld material according to the weld procedures • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety • Maintain work area and keep equipment clean and orderly • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (welding hood, face-shield, gloves, etc.) • Other duties as assigned Required Skills • Proven experience as welder in industry. • Experience using sub-arc welding equipment and procedures. • Prior experience in welding (preferably AWS structural pipe or ASME pressure vessel welding). • Current knowledge of the AWS AND ASME standards. • Ability to demonstrate sub-arc welding in 1G position for long-seams and/or girth-seams. • Ability to read and follow weld procedures. • Ability to verify and use appropriate consumables. • Ability to conduct visual inspection of welds. • Awareness and experience in all welding gear.
