Also performs maintenance and construction activities as directed. Knowledge and Experience: • Demonstrated experience with performing electrical repairs, testing systems and reading drafting and interpreting electrical drawings. • Proven ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions for successful completion of upgrades and modifications. • Working knowledge and skills with the use of electrical tools, equipment, the measurements necessary to meet established standards. Skills: • Must possess a current valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical license. • High School Diploma or GED couples with one (1) year practical experience in a related field. • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits and equipment. • Proven ability to successfully complete equipment upgrades or modification by way of written or verbal communication. Key Accountabilities (Essential Job Duties): • Demonstrates understanding and adheres to the KCS principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence, Safety & Security, and Economic Performance • Must complete all work in compliance with FRA, MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services standards. • Repair, inspect and maintain various industrial electrical systems. Draw and interpret electrical and drawings. • Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required. • Document job tasks or work performed manually or electronically and submit as required. Prepare and complete necessary supporting documentation as required. • Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related. • Other duties as assigned during emergencies. Working Conditions (including Physical Demands): • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, climbing (up to 100 feet), lifting (up to 50 pounds), balancing and driving. • The position will be exposed to loud environments, outdoor weather, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and electricity. • May be required to work extended hours during inclement weather. • Vision abilities required by this job include near and distant vision with the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to see colors clearly. • Must pass physical examination • Ability to perform all duties mentioned above. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: • Must complete all work in compliances with FRA, MBTA, and Keolis Commuter Services standards. • Performs scheduled maintenance inspections, preventative maintenance inspections and unscheduled maintenance inspection. • Repairs and replaces components. • Troubleshoots and performs fault detection on mechanical systems. • Performs modification from drawings, prints or mechanical schematics. • Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and reports all hazards as required. • Must document job tasks or work performed manually or electronically and submit as required. • Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related. • Other duties as assigned during emergencies. Experience • Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational credential. • Must have a minimum of 3 years practical experience in related field. • Must possess at least one valid current of the following Massachusetts Building & Trades Licenses: Plumber, Pipe Fitter, or HVAC (Refridgeration). MA Oil Burner Technician Certificate may also be considered. • Must have a valid current driver’s license. CDL and/or hoisting license preferred. Key Accountabilities • Perform maintenance and construction activities as directed. • Perform preventative maintenance, routine and emergency repairs plus trouble shooting of various plumbing, air, liquid transport, and HVAC and sand systems. • Maintain and construct various plumbing, air, liquid transport, HVAC and sand systems, both below and above ground. • Must complete all work in compliance with FRA, MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services Standards. • Prepare and complete forms as required. • Clean and maintain tools and equipment. • Draw and interpret drawings. • Requires daily travel to various MBTA sites and properties. • Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required. • Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related. • Other duties as assigned during emergencies. Other Requirements • Employment contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol screen. Also contingent upon receiving a favorable background check. Effort Factors Physical / Mental demands • Repeated lifting up to 40 lbs. • Repetitive pushing/pulling of objects in excess of 40 lbs. • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel and/or reach with hands and arms. • Work is performed inside and/or outside and includes exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. • Requires the ability to climb onto rail equipment. • Must be able to visit various outlying maintenance points in all weather conditions. • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. • Must be able to reach 6-12 inches above head to perform work. • Manual dexterity required – fine motor skills. • Frequent bending, stooping, crouching or kneeling required. • Ability to perform all duties above. Knowledge And Skills • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Requires a combination of position related training, education and experience. Technical training in mechanical systems is preferred. • Familiarity with railroad rolling stock and a railroad work environment is preferred. • Must be able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff. • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and vendors. • Must have strong interpersonal skills. Experience • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment in the selection of proper tools, methods, and equipment. • Must have a demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, diagrams, and drawings. • Satisfactory prior work history. • Must have a valid driver’s license. Key Accountabilities • Inspect, maintain and repair the piping and hoses on the locomotive and coaches. • Must complete all work in compliance with FRA, MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services standards. • Perform general sheet metal work. • Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required. • Must document job tasks or work performed manually or electronically and submit as required. • Must be able to travel and work at all Commuter Rail locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island in all weather conditions. • Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related. • Additional duties may be assigned to meet the operational needs of Keolis.
