Responsibilities Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities • Work independently in planning, layout, set-up and operation of CNC and manual machine tools. • Proof read and edit CNC programs as required. • Understands set up operation & program of G&M codes. • Responsible for machining and inspecting product to insure it is within specifications. • Perform all machining operations, including but not limited to Milling, Turning, Facing, Drilling, Reaming, Threading, Tapping, Deburring and assembly of product. • Perform basic machine maintenance as instructed. • Maintain a clean and organized work area. • Fully responsible for the quality of their own work. • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices. • Must be a team player and participate in efforts to achieve department and company goals. • Work overtime as required • Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent- Trade School Diploma preferred. Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in the set-up and operation of CNC and Manual Machine Tools. Experience with the methods and devices to lift heavy irregularly shaped objects. Knowledge: Advanced shop mathematics, able to read complex blue prints, understand the order of machining operations and good manufacturing practices. Understands set up operation & program of G & M codes. Skill: Able to correctly use and read precision measuring tools ( i.e. Micrometers, Vernier Calipers and Indicators.) Ability to control the machine tool to hold specified tolerances. Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization. Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance. Basic computer skills ( i.e data entry, editing, searching.) Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks. Physical/Environmental Demands: Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials. Able to lift, carry, move, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Work near moving mechanical parts. Who is Kadant Solutions Division? see moreOverview The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing maintenance, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of Kadant Solutions products. The successful candidate must be capable of prioritizing and handling multiple tasks simultaneously as well as developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, and maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date customer information. Results will be measured by service revenue generated and growth of consumable products at targeted accounts. **** Position requires the candidate to reside in the territory that includes, Indiana or Ohio**** Responsibilities Typical activities include planning, scheduling, and executing service, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting mill visits. The Field Service Technician will provide accurate and timely reports and billing documentation; take field notes, conduct surveys, map machines, and evaluate existing equipment; and communicate with engineering regarding field modifications. The candidate will assist the District Sales Manager with the promotion and sales of all products including service, service contracts, and spare parts. Qualifications Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, associate degree with two years of technical field experience, or a high school diploma with five years of technical field experience in an industrial or military setting. Experience in paper machine applications is a plus. Success in this position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to apply consistent logic to diverse situations. Strong technical and mechanical aptitude coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills is essential. The candidate must be able to work remotely from a home office, independently, and be a team player. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. There will be extensive travel with occasional weekends and/or holidays at the customer’s location when necessary.
