Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes and milling machines Work from blueprints, engineering instructions, specifications, and blueprints Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machine work Check part to ensure that they are properly lubricated and cooled Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter Maintain records and documents in-process inspection data as required Report faulty or unusual conditions to the appropriate level of supervision Able to measure using standard shop tools, machine tools, and engineered gaging to close established tolerances Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level Adhere to standards of safety and housekeeping standards Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.
